Product & brand design
Challenge
In today's globalized world, fostering cultural understanding is essential. However, the lack of platforms dedicated to genuine cultural exchange hampers this goal, leading to misunderstandings and limited empathy.
Outcome
An app that lets travelers see the world through the eyes of locals. By connecting users with local hosts for authentic experiences and cultural insights, it fosters understanding, reduces misunderstandings, and builds empathy among diverse communities.
Onboarding
The user creates an account, fills in preferences, and then goes through a tutorial on how to use the app.
Finding a place to visit
The user can toggle between a map view and a list view of different cities. From there, they can learn more about each place and add trip preferences and information.
Making connections
The user can filter by different interests or categories. They can select various services from locals and message them with any questions or thoughts about their trip.
Adding to itinerary
The user can search for categories of places or things to do. They can share these options with locals for feedback and add them to their itinerary by date or using the smart planner.
Collaborating with friends
The user can share their itineraries with friends and allow others to assist with planning. From there, they can use smart sorting by different categories to ensure a great experience.
Reminiscing
Go back and review your trips anytime you want. Forgot your favorite restaurant? Check your old itinerary.
This project was focused on fostering human connection
The secondary research I conducted enabled me to comprehend the significant problems in the tourism field and set boundaries for my proposed product.
I held interviews with a varied collection of individuals comprising expats, international students, and individuals who have traveled before.
The process was based around collaboration
Throughout my design process, I worked with industry professionals and peers to gather feedback and create a refined final product.

My professors were instrumental in guiding me through the design process, from definition to wireframes to high-fidelity prototypes.
Creating a cohesive brand was the next challenge
My goal with the brand was to put the focus on the people and their niche activities.

I used a lot of user generated content as well as working with local photographers and artists.
